The Darius Brubeck Quartet
Ropetackle Arts Centre
Little High Street, Shoreham-By-Sea, West Sussex, BN43 5EG
The Darius Brubeck Quartet, with its original compositions, Dave Brubeck hits, and South African jazz is a real draw. Playing to consistently sold-out houses at regional festivals and clubs, including London’s Ronnie Scott’s, their acoustic sound is melodic, spontaneous, rhythmic, and audience-friendly. Reaction to The Darius Brubeck Quartet has been enthusiastic, whether in Riyadh or Romania. Duncan Heining of Jazzwise Magazine described the group’s performance at the 2012 Scarborough Festival as his ‘gig of the year’. This very special show will feature Darius Brubeck (piano), Dave O’Higgins (sax), Matt Ridley (bass) and Wesley Gibbens (drums). Our Thunkshop Cafe will be serving delicious pre-show suppers from 6pm. Advance booking is recommended but not essential, please contact Sarah on 07957 166092 for further details and to book. Starts 8pm, Tickets: £14, Box Office: 01273 464440, Online: http://ropetacklecentre.co.uk/events/the-darius-brubeck-quartet/

Thu 2nd Oct 2014 Acoustic Night with guest Steve Morrison
Halfway House Acoustic Night
Halfway House - 24 Priests Bridge, Barnes, London, SW14 8TA
Acoustic Night at the Halfway -- Open Mic with Guest Spot hosted by Brian Coope -- features an eclectic mix of folk, blues, rock, acoustic swing, country, and offbeat originals. This week’s guest is bluesman Steve Morrison. Steve has a sound of his own -- plays an unusual electric Fender in a very “acoustic” way for inventive re-workings of old blues and jazz standards -- as well as finely-crafted originals. Steve will be playing his 40 minute set around 10.00pm. A flavour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GhORKibU8o Other singers welcome on first come/first served basis. Microphones and somewhere to plug in for electro-acoustic instruments. Starts 8.30ish. Train to Barnes Station or 33, 337, and 493 buses very handy.
